Hello!
I’m Izzy Moore, an artist with ADHD. I live in East Sussex in the south east of England.
A little more about me
I ‘invented’ the name Threadnoodle about 14 years ago when I set up my first blog - and I still think it’s one of my favourite words: it says it all!
Threads: the sort you stitch with, and the metaphorical ones, the meandering conversations and chats between friends.
Noodles: the sort you can eat (one of my favourite foods), and the random thoughts and ideas that ‘noodle’ around in one’s head in any idle moment.
So Threadnoodle is where I’ll chat about my adventures in my home studio, where I potter about with paint and paper, bright recycled fabrics, and of course threads. My favourite techniques are painting, collage, machine embroidery and appliqué.
I also spend a fair amount of time procrastinating and tearing my hair out at the mess everywhere. I’ll definitely be writing about that too. I don’t think I’m alone in experiencing the frustration of being Stuck and Overwhelmed.
A year or so ago I received a clinical diagnosis of ADHD. It was wonderful to finally have an explanation for the highs and lows of my hyperactive mind (and body) and the swings and falls of energy and motivation. Even if you don’t have ADHD, chances are our experiences will sometimes overlap. By sharing my wins and fails and the things I’m trying to manage life, I hope you can be inspired to embrace your wonderful creative self too - no matter how messy!
When I’m on a productive streak, I make online courses that will help you do just that - embrace your creativity, and learn new skills with fabric, thread and your sewing machine. If there’s something new in the pipeline, this is where you’ll hear about it first - and be the first to get the link to join!
When I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me in the kitchen (those noodles don’t cook themselves) or in the gym (I’m a big fan of movement - see above - especially now I’m officially in ‘middle age’) or I’ll be outside in the fresh air, where I know I can think clearly, and where I get my best ideas.
I was born in London, home is a small town in East Sussex, but my favourite place in the whole world is one particular beach in an unspoilt corner of Brittany that I try and visit at least once a year to soak it all in. Wherever I am, I’ll share my adventures and current inspirations and discoveries with you too.
