Yes! I know! Disaster! I usually have one ‘in reserve’ and we might have one in the loft, with all the camping stuff that I could raid…there are knock-off ones on Amazon, and yes - I’ve read the reviews (not wonderful). But once I’d starting thinking “how hard could it be to make one?” there was no stopping the cogs whirring!

I’m in the same predicament. I used to be able to buy a scrubber that was made from Coconut fibre. Brilliant they were! But not available any longer. I don’t think I will be attempting to crochet/knit any type of scrubber anytime soon.

The Orange/Onion bag is a good idea, there’s loads of them, use once and discard! :))

Let me know if you start crocheting your onion bags!

As I throw away the plastic net that oranges come in I always think I should save it and make it into dish scrubbers. Maybe next time! Of course the household emporium of stuff that surely nobody needs used to proudly be called Lakeland PLASTICS….

You’re right! It was called that, I’d completely forgotten! I’d thought of fruit nets, to make yarn…but then I worked out how many I’d need and thought again 🫠

Alternatively you can get a box of eco friendly dish scrubbers from Seep. Each one lasts longer than the advertised one month, it freshens up in the dishwasher and does the job perfectly well. Although of course I do appreciate that takes away the fun of the challenge of making your own! And it absolutely does matter in which hole you poke your hook when you crochet... although maybe not so much for dish cloths! :D

🤭 don’t ever look closely at anything I’ve knitted or crocheted then! I’ll take a look at those scrubbers, thank you!

😂 I promise to never inspect your handiwork!

We swapped to the Seep dish sponges about 6 months ago and haven’t been disappointed

I have a loofah thingie, but didn’t like it hugely, bits of food got stuck in it. We get pink eco sponges from Smol but they don’t scrub - maybe the Seep sponges are a good halfway house.

Happily send you one if you would like to try it before committing to a boxful x

I know what you mean as the Seep things are a bit like a loofah on one side but food getting stuck doesn’t seem a problem.
